hi memmy if you happen to still be using the forum uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hello
recently i've found myself listening to ripping albums more often, something that helps me endure the 20 minutes between my house and school more easily. i'll make a post about the other ones at some point, but tonight i'd like to highlight this album in particular
the theme for this album is "brainrot day" (unsure of who coined the term but it's very fitting). this is already explained in the description of the album itself, but "brainrot day" refers to specifically May 18th (in my timezone, at least), day in which the three main channels simultaneously started three different one-source takeovers. we had:
this is a lesser known fact, but on the same day IkaGunner also had it's own brainrot day! we dubbed it the spaceover internally, and it lasted for a few days, although not for as long as the other brainrot takeovers. it did solidify space from htwml as an ikagunner source, so that was cool
- 100 Sunny rips on TimmyTurnersGrandDad (celebrating the anniversary of the original gadgetbot takeover)
- Raft Ride rips on siiva (less of a takeover, moreso a very sudden spike in RR rips)
- Fairy Tale Path - Yume 2kki rips on vavr (dubbed the "fairy pathover")
sometimes, "brainrot day" is used to collectively refer to all three of these sources, normally when paired together in a rip

anyways, going back to the album, there is quite a bunch of stuff here, 65 tracks in total to be exact. now, memmy had published bigger compilation albums in the past, and 65 is generally short compared to most ripping albums out there, but considering she had a very short span of time to make all those rips compared to these other albums, and that it's also made entirely solo, there is a lot of merit to it, and it'd be crazy to deny it, so i gotta drink to that (that is if i consumed alcohol, which i dont, but the sentiment is there)
the rips themselves are really cool as well! i'm probably biased, because the album is based on songs i genuinely like (raft ride is a banger as a melodyswap joke, fairy tale path fucks in general and i think 100 sunny is okay), but there's really some good ideas and really funny jokes in here. i'll highlight some here:
a fairy tale path i used to know (i personally like the instrumental version, but it's a bonus so i can't link it)
i think i openly said to memmy there's some rips here that i would have executed differently. i still stand by that, but that wont change the fact that i still really really like this album, even including the aforementioned rips, and you can tell there was love put into it, and with reason, this represents a very special moment in ripping history in, in which memmy herself was heavily involved in (specially the fairy pathover). something like this will likely not be replicated or topped in a very, very long time, unless the ripping community somehow decides to take over all channels collectively with one source, or something really stupid along those lines. needless to say, seeing such an event in ripping history and all of its crazyness being framed into a single, compact yet decently lengthy album for posterity, ensuring the memories of brainrot day are preserved in some form, makes me feel a little more alive. hell, i liked it enough to insert those into my gamecube, which i regularly use as a music player (unironically!), and i'm select about the albums i put in there. makes me want to check out other smaller albums as well, which i'll get to eventually!
for now, i'll just urge whoever reads this to check it out, it's worth your time 🐸👍
